As most practices know, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is planning to overhaul the Medicare payment system by 2018, with incremental changes taking place each year until then. CMS is asking for feedback on several of the components of Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) that could kick in this January, such as how to define physician-focused payment models.
“CMS is building on the important work of Congress to shift the Medicare program toward a system that rewards physicians for providing high quality care,” said CMS Administrator Andy Slavitt in a July 8 statement.
In addition, you can also offer your opinion on aspects of the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), which will eventually ensure that providers can collect bonuses for clinical quality reports once MACRA is fully implemented.
