The following bills were introduced in the Senate:

S. 2007. A bill to examine the circumstances contributing to the problems facing the health care system of the United
States and to develop public and private policies as appropriate to address rising health care costs and the number of uninsured Americans. Introduced Nov. 14 by Sen. Ken Salazar (D-CO) and referred to the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.

S. 2010. A bill to amend the Social Security Act to enhance the social security of the nation by ensuring adequate public-private infrastructure and to resolve to prevent, detect, treat, intervene in and prosecute elder abuse, neglect and exploitation, and for other purposes. Introduced Nov. 15 by Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) and referred to the Committee on Finance.

S. 2022. A bill to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide for coverage of remote patient management services for chronic health care conditions under the Medicare program. Introduced Nov. 16 by Sen. Norm Coleman  (R-MN) and referred to the Committee on Finance.

S. 2026. A bill to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to require that a prescription drug plan or an MA--PD plan that has an initial coverage limit obtain a signed certification prior to enrolling benficiaries under the plan under part D of such title. Introduced Nov. 16 by Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) and referred to the Committee on Finance.

The following bills were introduced in the House:

H.R. 4293. A bill to amend titles XVIII and XIX of the Social Security Act to establish minimum requirements for nurse staffing in nursing facilities receiving payments under the Medicare or Medicaid Program. Introduced Nov. 10 by Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) and referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce.

H.R. 4395. A bill to amend titles XVIII and XIX of the Social Security Act to provide for an improved voluntary Medicare prescription drug benefit, to provide greater access to affordable pharmaceuticals and for other purposes. Introduced Nov. 18 by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) and referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce.

H.R. 4403. A bill to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to clarify Congressional intent regarding the counting of residents in a nonhospital setting under the Medicare Program. Introduced Nov.18 by Rep. Kenny Hulshof (R-MO) and referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
