Code 95117: Two-Injection Visit

Question: A patient comes to our office once each week for allergy injections. The nurse administers two injections (one in each arm). Do we bill 95115 and 95117, or only 95117?

Answer: Report the injections with 95117 (Professional services for allergen immunotherapy not including provision of allergenic extracts; 2 or more injections).
Explanation: Code 95115 (... 1 injection) represents the same type of service as 95117, but for a single injection (one injection total, not one injection per limb). Because your nurse is administering two injections during the visit, 95117 is more appropriate.
