Get the occurrence, condition codes down pat. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and its contractors are still working out the kinks in the new Electronic Data Interchange submission process for Notices of Election. But meanwhile, hospices can take advantage of procedures to correct dates on NOEs and Notices of Termination/Revocation. For example: Say you keyed in an incorrect admission date on an NOE, offers HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor CGS. To correct it: submit the correct election date in the From and Admission Date fields; submit the original election date using occurrence code 56; and submit condition code D0 (zero), the MAC instructs. The same process works for NOTRs, but you must change the date in the "Through" date field, CGS notes.
