The newest crop of MedPAC commissioners is heavy on physicians and light — extremely — on hospice reps. The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission announced five new members (including four MDs) and one reappointed member. Eleven existing members’ terms expire in 2019 and 2020. “Once again, no one from the home health care community” is part of MedPAC, notes Tom Boyd with Simione Healthcare Consultants in Rohnert Park, California. The one non-physician new commissioner is Marjorie Ginsburg, BSN, MPH, the founding executive director of the Center for Healthcare Decisions Inc. Among the policy issues Ginsburg studied with CHDI is “end-of-life care,” a MedPAC release says. CHDI is now merged with The Center for Healthcare Policy and Research at the University of California, Davis.
