The new Hospice Visits in the Last Days of Life quality measure now has the NQF’s official seal of approval. The National Quality Forum endorsed the claims-based measure on July 26, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services says in a message to providers. Reminder: “HVLDL reflects the proportion of hospice patients who received in-person visits from a registered nurse or a medical social worker on at least 2 of the final 3 days of life,” CMS reviews. “HVLDL is the re-specified measure replacing the HIS-based Hospice Visits When Death is Imminent (HVWDII).” Public reporting of the measure began this month, after a delay in May (see Hospice Insider, Vol. 15, No. 7).
