The American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, in partnership with the National Coalition for Hospice and Palliative Care and the RAND Corporation, has been awarded a $5.5 million three-year grant from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to develop patient reported quality measures for community-based palliative care, AAHPM says in a release. CMS plans to use the measures in physician quality reporting programs. The measures will address whether adult patients get help with symptoms and whether they feel heard and understood by their palliative care provider.
