The blueprint goes fairly easy on hospice, however.
Hospice providers have a smaller than usual role in the HHS Office of Inspector General’s latest annual Work Plan.
The OIG lists “Hospice general inpatient care” as its sole hospice topic. “Hospice care is palliative rather than curative,” the OIG stresses. “When a beneficiary elects hospice care, the hospice agency assumes the responsibility for medical care related to the beneficiary’s terminal illness and related conditions.”
