Staffer Christine Rahl was in charge of payroll and gave herself unauthorized raises and submitted false expenses for herself, Rahl has admitted in a guilty plea for embezzlement and money laundering, the Department of Justice says in a release.
Rahl illegally appropriated $1.6 million from the hospice and its parent, Marmalade Health, over five years, the DOJ says. Rahl could face up to 10 years in prison at sentencing.
