More than the weather is frozen, Medicare officials reminded attendees of the latest Open Door Forum for hospice providers. Starting last November, hospice agencies’ publicly reported data on Care Compare is frozen through November 2021, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services personnel told agencies in the Dec. 16 forum. In December, the “streamlined” Care Compare site replaced the separate Hospice Compare website, as well as the Compare sites for seven other provider types, a CMS source reminded forum attendees. CMS is freezing publicly reported data due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, which was renewed as of Jan. 21. While agencies’ public numbers will be static for the next year, they still will receive confidential quality measure reports with updated statistics throughout the year, the CMS official confirmed. However, CMS won’t issue preview reports. Note: Care Compare is at www.medicare.gov/care-compare.
