Local hospice networks continue to gain traction. In California, Elizabeth Hospice in San Diego, Mission Hospice & Home Care in San Mateo, and Hospice of Santa Cruz County in Scotts Valley have formed a strategic partnership called the California Hospice Network to sustain local, nonprofit, community-based hospice care throughout the state, according to a release. The partnership will “share best practices” and “maximize operational economies and efficiencies,” Mission Hospice says in a release. That includes consolidating back office functions, Elizabeth Hospice’s Jan Jones told KPBS Evening Edition. The hospices drew inspiration from the Ohio’s Hospice nonprofit network in that state, reports the Santa Cruz Sentinel. Meanwhile, that network continues to grow. Valley Hospice in Rayland is becoming the first associate member of Ohio’s Hospice, according to a release from the organization. A nonprofit network formed earlier this year in Oregon (see Eli’s Hospice Insider, Vol. 12, No. 3).
