Coding Update:

Here Come 2005 Mid-year Coding Changes - April Fools

Do you wish you could stop worrying about new codes at least until next fall?

Agencies worrying about rumors of a mid-year coding change in April can relax. The mid-year change is reserved for technical changes in how clinicians deliver care, explained coding consultant Prinny Rose Abraham with HIQM in Minneapolis, speaking in a coding presentation at the October annual meeting of the National Association for Home Care & Hospice in Phoenix. These are generally procedure codes, she explains, and there needs to be a good reason before the groups in charge of coding changes agree to mid-year revisions.

"The committee has said that there will not be an update this April," Abraham reassures agencies.
