With only two months to go before durable medical equipment competitive bidding goes live in nine areas, CMS is cranking up its issuance of bidding-related education materials. CMS's Medicare Learning Network now offers bidding fact sheets for traveling beneficiaries, physicians, and suppliers who are not contract suppliers. The fact sheets are online at www.cms.gov/DMEPOSCompetitiveBid/04_Educational_Resources.asp -- scroll down to the "Downloads" section. Meanwhile: Suppliers are incensed that CMS has not yet announced the contract suppliers. Non-winning suppliers have just a matter of days to give patients notice on whether they continue furnishing bid items under a grandfathering exception, notes the National Association of Independent Medical Equipment Suppliers. CMS requires 30 business days' notice to beneficiaries, notes NAIMES'Wayne Stanfield.
