If You're Located In One Of The Places On This List, Expect Extra Scrutiny

Texas leads the pack with 11 of the 25 highest utilization counties. The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission singled out 25 U.S. counties with high rates of home care use. Don't be surprised to undergo extra scrutiny from HHH MACS, ZPICs, RACs, the OIG, and other agencies if you reside in (or near) these areas: In Texas: Brooks, Duval, Starr, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Willacy, Hidalgo, Zapata, Cameron, Webb and Red River counties. In Mississippi: Claiborne, Sharkey, and Jefferson counties. In Florida: Miami-Dade County. In Louisiana: Madison, Avoyelles, East Carroll, Washington, and St. Helena counties. In Oklahoma: Choctaw, McCurtain, Pushmataha, and Latimer counties. In Tennessee: Hancock County.
