Time Still Remains To Head Off 2% CAHPS Cut

You don't have to take a 2 percent hit to your Medicare reimbursement if you haven't started your CAHPS survey yet -- you have until Oct. 21 to have a vendor conduct the survey for you. Background: CMS required a Home Health Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems "dry run" by the end of the third quarter, which was in September. But agencies have 21 days from the close of the sample month to survey the patients, CAHPS contractor RTI explains on the HHCAHPS website. "There is still time for Medicare-certified agencies that have not yet taken any action on HHCAHPS to meet the participation requirements," says the site at www.homehealthcahps.org.
