Texas HHA Sues Client For Poaching Staff

If you're frustrated with clients poaching your caregiving staff, you may want to take a page from a Beaumont, Texas agency's playbook. Accent Home Health is suing a former client and his son after they directly hired one of Accent's employees and encouraged other clients to do the same, reports The Southeast Texas Record. According to a suit filed July 2 in county court, Clifford Hughes hired Accent to care for his mother, but after three days the worker resigned and went to work for Hughes and his mother directly. Hughes then allegedly told neighbors they should do the same thing. Hughes didn't pay invoices for the services rendered or for canceling the contract prematurely, the newspaper reports. Accent alleges breach of contract and tortious interference with existing contract, according to the lawsuit.
