Reimbursement:

DON'T LET SHIFT IN FEE SCHEDULE STEAL YOUR CONTRACT

Warning: You may need to rebid.

Keep your eye on the fee schedule if you provide power wheelchairs, especially if you're in phase one of Medicare's new competitive bidding program.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has revised the fee schedule amounts for Healthcare Common Procedure Codes (HCPCS) code E2374 (power wheelchair accessory, hand or chin control interface, standard remote joystick, not including controller, proportional, including all related electronics and fixed mounting hardware, replacement only).

The revised 2007 fee schedule amounts will be implemented on July 2 as part of the July DMEPOS fee schedule Update.

Vital: The competitive bidding bid limits for code E2374 have been updated to reflect this fee schedule change.

Take action: If you have already submitted bids for product category 3, you may want to consider revising your bids based on this information, says CMS. The agency will not consider any bid that exceeds the new fee schedule amount. v
