CMS Delays PECOS Edits

In a Feb. 17 special Open Door Forum, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced the delay of the PECOS physician claims edits for durable medical equipment and other Part B claims. The new date for the edits' implementation is Jan. 3, 2011. The PECOS edits were slated to start April 5 and would have seriously harmed suppliers' cash flow, industry reps have been telling CMS (see Eli's HCW, Vol. XIX, No. 5, p. 36). Watch for more details about the delay in a future issue of Eli's Home Care Week.
