7 Quality Measures

Scan the list that ranges from bowels to beliefs.

For one of your new hospice quality measures, say hello to some old friends. The new measure “Hospice and Palliative Care Composite Process Measure” is a composite of the seven measures for which hospices have collected data since 2014:

  • NQF #1617 Patients Treated with an Opioid who are Given a Bowel Regimen;
  • NQF #1634 Pain Screening;
  • NQF #1637 Pain Assessment;
  • NQF #1638 Dyspnea Treatment;
  • NQF #1639 Dyspnea Screening;
  • NQF #1641 Treatment Preferences;
  • NQF #1647 (modified) Beliefs/Values Addressed (if desired by patient).

Don’t be surprised if your Hospice Compare score aligns with this composite measure, experts say.
