PE-Backed Rural Hospice Chain Expands In Missouri

Plus: North Carolina hospice provider sheds home health business.

An Alabama-based hospice chain has enlarged its footprint in one of the seven states it serves.

Legacy Hospice has acquired Safe Harbor Hospice in Fredericktown, Mo., it says in a release. Safe Harbor, founded in 2000, serves 13 counties and has an average daily census of 55.

“Safe Harbor Hospice is a natural extension of the services we currently offer in southeastern Missouri,” Legacy CEO Clark Blair says in the release. Legacy is a “rural hospice provider” with 19 locations, the company says.

Austin, Texas-based M&A advisory firm Agenda Health facilitated the transaction, Legacy adds.

Chicago-based private equity firm Prairie Capital bought Daphne-based Legacy Hospice in January 2020, according to Mergr.
