Plus: St. Croix enlarges Illinois presence. While the home health mergers & acquisitions market may no longer be at a full boil, it’s still bubbling along nicely. For example: Excelin Health has purchased On My Care, a Fremont, California-based home health agency, for undisclosed terms, Excelin’s private equity backer Corinthian Capital says in a release. “On My Care is licensed to practice in five counties around the San Francisco Bay area, further expanding Excelin’s footprint in California,” the release says. “The acquisition marks the third transaction by Excelin in the past seven months, having also purchased Louisiana-based Grace Home Health and three Texas hospice licenses in October 2021. Under its current leadership, Excelin has also opened five de novo home health locations and four de novo hospices in California and Texas, it says. “While the current M&A market has shown signs of slowing down in recent months, with the right support and guidance, transactions are still occurring,” notes M&A Healthcare Advisors (MAHA), a “newly founded boutique M&A advisory group,” in a release about the transaction. MAHA “served as On My Care’s exclusive sell-side advisor,” New York-based Corinthian says in its release. Other recent deals include: In Illinois: St. Croix Hospice has acquired Lexington Hospice Care in the Chicago suburb of Lombard. “This marks the agency’s third branch location in Illinois,” the Oakdale, Minnesota-based chain says in a release. St. Croix operates more than 50 branches in nine states with more than 1,200 employees serving more than 3,000 patients, it says. In 14 states: Humana Inc. has added 14 states to its ongoing initiative to rebrand the home health division of Kindred at Home as CenterWell Home Health, Louisville, Kentucky-based Humana says in a release. That “brings to 21 the number of states where KAH home health services have transitioned — or started transitioning — to CenterWell Home Health,” Humana notes. The 14 states are Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin. The last batch of 17 states will start transitioning in September, Humana expects. “When the rebranding is complete, CenterWell Home Health will support patients from more than 350 locations across 38 states,” it notes. In Virginia: The state has approved Blue Ridge Hospice to operate a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), the Winchester-based provider says in a release. The hospice has formed Blue Ridge Independence at Home to operate the program, it says. In Boston: Home care provider HouseWorks has acquired Greater Boston Home Health Care Services Inc., HouseWorks says in a release. “With our expanded territory and growing roster of payor sources, this acquisition allows us to capitalize on the growing need for homecare across all demographics within Massachusetts,” says HouseWorks CEO Michael Trigilio in the release.
