MAC Gives Cancel Pointers

You’ll have to wait for your claim to pay before you can cancel it, says HHH MAC Palmetto GBA in a new job aid on appeals and adjustments. “You can only cancel a paid claim,” Palmetto explains in the tool. “A claim cannot be cancelled unless it has been finalized and is reflected on the remittance advice.”
Tip: “Providers cannot submit a redetermination request form (appeal) and submit to Palmetto GBA in order to cancel a claim,” the MAC clarifies. “Claims can only be cancelled electronically.”
