Busy Acquisition Year Makes Encompass 4th Largest Skilled Home Care Provider
Encompass Health, formerly Health-South, plans to continue its growth strategy in the coming year. So said Compass CEO Mark Tarr at the 2019 J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference Jan. 8. Birmingham-based Encompass acquired or opened 23 home health locations and 22 hospice ones in 2018, Tarr noted in a slide presentation. That brings the chain’s total to 220 home health locations and 58 hospice ones across 30 states. That makes Encompass the nation’s fourth-largest provider of Medicare-certified skilled home health services, Tarr noted in the presentation. Encompass will focus on preparing for the Patient-Driven Groupings Model and the Review Choice Demonstration in 2019, among other priorities, Tarr indicated (see story, p. 10).
