Year-End Cost Reports Due This Month, MAC Warns

If your fiscal year end was Dec. 31, waste no time in filing your cost report. “Cost reports for the period ending December 31, 2022, are due May 31, 2023,” HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor Palmetto GBA says in a message to providers. “Please file timely or early to prevent being placed on payment hold.” Even if you’re just a little late with your report, it could be a long wait for your reimbursement, Palmetto warns. “When a cost report is filed late, the provider will be placed on payment hold. The payment hold will be released after the cost report has been received, reviewed and accepted, which can take up to 30 days,” the MAC emphasizes.
