Industry Notes:

With the new year comes

With the new year comes a new claims filing deadline. "All claims for services furnished on or after Jan. 1, 2010, must be filed with your Medicare contractor no later than one calendar year (12 months) from the date of service -- or Medicare will deny them," CMS says in a message to providers. That means you had better make sure your claims from last January are all squared away, or risk losing your Medicare reimbursement for them. Remember: Home health agencies and hospices use the "through" date on the claim to count the one-year timeline.
