Travel To Other Continents Foils Agency Owner's Claims

In a recent case in Missouri, a federal judge sentenced DeAndre Horne to five years in prison for defrauding the Missouri Medicaid program out of $1.2 million, the Department of Justice says in a release.

Horne, the owner of Serenity Home Health Care CDS, pleaded guilty to billing Missouri Medicaid for services that were not supported by valid timesheets or electronic visit verification (EVV); creating false EVV documentation; falsely claiming to be the personal care attendant for multiple beneficiaries; and billing for times when he was traveling.

“DeAndre Horne was actually vacationing in Paris, Chile, Japan, Brussels, Punta Cana, Portugal and Jamaica on the days he claimed to be physically providing home health services in St. Louis,” FBI Special Agent in Charge Jay Greenberg says in the release.

Horne also fraudulently obtained a $135,000 Paycheck Protection Program loan through another company, Budget Towing & Recovery, the DOJ adds. He inflated the number of employees and monthly payroll amount.
