Industry Notes:

The marching orders that will exempt

The marching orders that will exempt pharmacies from DME accreditation requirements have gone out. Pharmacies don't have to be accredited for DME before Jan. 1, 2011, says June 25 Transmittal No. 346 (CR 7021). After Jan. 1, a pharmacy is exempt if it has less than 5 percent of its pharmacy sales for DME, has been enrolled for at least five years, and has had no final adverse action in the past five years, CMS says in the transmittal.
