The Coast Is Clear To Resubmit Incorrectly Returned 31755 Claims, MAC Advises
Don’t miss your chance to get your rightful reimbursement on incorrectly returned claims. The problem: “Some home health claims incorrectly edited for reason code 31755 that were received in December 2021 or early January 2022,” HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor Palmetto GBA says on it website. Reminder: Reason code 31755 occurs because “one line item date of service (LIDOS) must match the date of service (DOS) billed on the 0023 revenue line, or when the ‘FROM’ date and the ‘ADMIT’ date are equal, the DOS billed with the 0023 revenue line must also match,” HHH MAC CGS explains on its website. The solution: “The edit issue was resolved on January 5, 2022,” Palmetto reports. “Claims received after January 5, 2022, will not edit in error for this reason code.” But HHAs need to follow up on claims that returned earlier. “Home health agencies may return claims that incorrectly edited for this reason code prior to the implementation of the resolution, so they may now process,” Palmetto instructs.
