Industry Notes:

Texas-Based Chain, Rhode Island Provider Open, Enlarge Inpatient Facilities

Hospice facilities continue to open and grow.

For example: Rhode Island’s only freestanding hospice center has increased its capacity by 25 percent by adding six beds to its 24-bed facility, reports The Boston Globe. Prior to HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center’s expansion in Providence, many patients were being put on a wait list for inpatient hospice, CEO Diana Franchitto told the newspaper. Like most other hospices, the center is facing staffing challenges, Franchitto acknowledged.

Side note: Last month, Community VNA became part of HopeHealth, forming HopeHealth Community VNA, the hospice and home care provider reports. The VNA will retain its location in Attleboro, Massachusetts.

Another example: Heart to Heart Hospice in Houston is opening a new Hospice Inpatient Center there next month, it says in a release. Dallas-based Heart to Heart operates 52 locations in Texas, Michigan, and Indiana, it says.
