Don’t feel like you have to hold off on claims testing for ICD-10, just because the implementation date got pushed back to October 2015. But you may benefit from waiting.
“Providers … are welcome to submit ac-knowledgement test claims anytime up to the anticipated October 1, 2015 implementation date,” the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services says on its website. During Medicare’s ICD-10 testing week in March, “testers submitted more than 127,000 claims with ICD-10 codes to the Medicare Fee-For-Service (FFS) claims systems and received electronic acknowledgements confirming that their claims were accepted,” the agency says.
However: “Those who submit claims may want to delay acknowledgement testing until after October 6, 2014, when Medicare updates its systems,” CMS suggests.
Also, stay tuned for details on end-to-end testing, which CMS rescheduled to 2015.
