If you have thoughts on the Medicare home health cost report, now’s the time to voice them. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is taking comments on its Form CMS–1728–20 until July 10, it says in a May 11 Federal Register notice.
Reminder: The form “is used to determine a provider’s reasonable cost incurred in furnishing medical services to Medicare beneficiaries and reimbursement due to or from a provider” and “for annual rate setting and payment refinement activities, including developing a home health market basket,” CMS says in the comment request notice. “Additionally, the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) uses the home health cost report data to calculate Medicare margins, to formulate recommendations to Congress regarding the HHA PPS, and to conduct additional analysis of the HHA PPS,” CMS adds. CMS estimates that 10,944 reports are filed annually to the tune of 2.1 million hours. Commenting instructions are in the notice at www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2023-05-11/ pdf/2023-10026.pdf.
