Out of 41,000 health care jobs added in June, home health care services accounted for more than 9,000, reports the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
But that surge could be even higher, a recent report suggests. A survey of 450 home care agencies found that 89 percent were compelled to turn away care due to workforce shortages. “Small to medium sized agencies are turning away an average of 510 hours of care monthly, with a median of turning away 100 hours of care monthly, leaving individuals that need care without access to services,” says the survey report from MissionCare Collective at https://employer.mycnajobs.com/hubfs/2023 Provider Study - Digital_Final.pdf.
