Industry Notes:

Self-Reported Hospice Cap Due Soon

Hospice cap reductions may be in the public eye thanks to an upcoming Medicare Payment Advisory Commission recommendation, but cap reporting is on as usual.

“The 2021 Self-Determined Caps are due no later than February 28, 2022,” HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor CGS says in a recent message to providers. “If the self-determined cap is not received within 7 days of the above due date, a Past Due letter will be issued, and payments will be suspended,” the MAC warns.

Plus: “If CGS does not pay your agency’s Medicare claims, we are not responsible for the hospice cap work for your agency,” the MAC highlights. “The MAC that pays your claims is [to] whom you need to submit your SD cap and ask any questions you have.”
