QRP Waivers Apply Under Mississippi PHE For Tornadoes, Storms

Many COVID PHE waivers may be done, but waivers still apply for other disasters.

For example: The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services “is granting exceptions under certain Medicare quality reporting and value-based purchasing programs to providers and facilities located in areas affected by the Mississippi Severe Storms, Straight-Line Winds, and Tornadoes disaster, as identified by both a Health and Human Services (HHS) Public Health Emergency (PHE) declaration … and a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) disaster declaration,” the agency says in a May 18 message to providers.

The waivers aim “to assist these providers and facilities while they direct their resources toward caring for their patients and addressing potential infrastructural challenges affecting their healthcare operations,” CMS notes.
