Make sure you’ve wrapped up any necessary COVID-related policies by the time the Public Health Emergency officially ends on May 11. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services last updated its home health- and hospice-specific waiver fact sheets at www.cms.gov/coronavirus-waivers on Feb. 24, but keep an eye out for late-developing clarifications as the deadline approaches — and passes. Reminder: Some home health and hospice flexibilities will end on May 11, while others will extend. The former category includes QAPI changes and extended OASIS deadlines, while the latter includes aide training requirements and hospice volunteer rules (see more details in HHHW by AAPC, Vol. XXXII, No. 8). Still others have been permanently implemented by law.
