Palmetto GBA Parent Buys CIGNA Government Services

Home health agencies and hospices transferring from Cahaba GBA to CIGNA Government Services this summer have another wrinkle added to the transition. Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina, the parent of Palmetto GBA, is buying CGS this month, CIGNA says in a statement. How the acquisition will affect the Jurisdiction 15 workload, including the home health and hospice portion, is unclear. CIGNA had been planning to contract with Riverbend GBA (BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee) for the home health and hospice work.
