OIG Warns Beneficiaries Against Remote Patient Monitoring Fraud

Don’t let a new OIG fraud alert get in the way of your legitimate remote patient monitoring practices. Heads up: The HHS Office of Inspector General “is alerting the public about a fraud scheme involving monthly billing for remote patient monitoring,” it says in a new message. The watchdog agency goes on to explain the scam, including advice to “be suspicious of anyone who offers you free medical equipment and then requests your Medicare number.
