OIG Warns Beneficiaries Against Remote Patient Monitoring Fraud

Don’t let a new OIG fraud alert get in the way of your legitimate remote patient monitoring practices.

Heads up: The HHS Office of Inspector General “is alerting the public about a fraud scheme involving monthly billing for remote patient monitoring,” it says in a new message. The watchdog agency goes on to explain the scam, including advice to “be suspicious of anyone who offers you free medical equipment and then requests your Medicare number. If your personal information is compromised, it may be used in other fraud schemes.”
