OIG Focuses On COVID Test Fraud

The HHS Office of Inspector General didn’t concentrate only on home health and hospice fraud in its latest Semiannual Report to Congress (see HCW by AAPC, Vol. XXX, No. 21).

The OIG “partnered with six federal OIGs to analyze COVID-19 testing, including the amounts paid by Medicare Part B for these tests,” explain attorneys with King & Spalding in online legal analysis. The culmination of the OIGs’ work, the Federal COVID-19 Testing Report, offers a thorough outline of the factors that impacted national testing issues from lack of actual tests to changing Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines to health equity problems.
