No Letter Is Good News, When It Comes To HQRP Compliance

If you’ve ignored your Hospice Quality Reporting Program data reporting compliance status in past years, now may be the time to pay attention.

Why? Hospices that didn’t comply with HQRP thresholds in 2022 will face a whopping 4 percent reduction to payment levels in 2024, LeadingAge reminds on its website. And the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services began notifying hospices of noncompliance on July 20, the trade group says.

While the HHH Medicare Administrative Contractors are notifying hospices of their status, providers can also find the information in their CASPER folders in QIES, CMS explains on its Reconsideration Requests page.

For providers wishing to appeal the finding, “hospices that receive a letter of non-compliance must submit a request for reconsideration to CMS within thirty (30) days after the date documented on the non-compliance notification letter distributed electronically using QIES,” CMS stresses. “CMS will not accept any requests submitted after the thirty (30) day deadline,” it emphasizes.
