New York Times Profiles Home Care Insurance Woes

The industry's effort to avoid potentially disastrous employee insurance costs under the Affordable Care Act is gaining mainstream attention. The New York Times profiled home health agencies' and nursing homes' lobbying efforts to gain an exemption to the ACA requirement to purchase health insurance for employees. About one in three home care workers is uninsured, the Times says. The Medicare & Medicaid programs don't reimburse at a level that will cover insurance costs, industry representatives maintain in the article.
