Medicare Tucks Some VBP Educational Presents In HHAs’ Stockings

Don’t fall behind on Value-Based Purchasing essentials for the new year.

If you missed Medicare’s prep session for Value-Based Purchasing last month, you can now check it out at your leisure — maybe after the hectic holidays have subsided.

On Nov. 9, “the expanded HHVBP Model Technical Assistance team hosted a live learning event, Preparing for Calendar Year (CY) 2024 and CY 2025,” the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services says in its latest VBP newsletter. “The presentation included a review of the CY 2024 and CY 2025 performance requirements and a Q&A session,” the agency explains.

A recording of the webinar, its slide deck, and two “written resources” are under the “Model Overview” section at www.cms.gov/priorities/innovation/innovation-models/expanded-home-health-value-based-purchasing-model.

Plus: This month’s Strategies for Success topic in the VBP newsletter addresses medication review. It highlights “procedures that can reliably identify potential adverse effects and drug reactions,” CMS says. Its briefing card “follows an SBAR (situation, background, assessment, and recommendation) format, leading to a recommendation on how an HHA can address opportunities for improvement,” the newsletter adds.
