Home health agencies will deal more with Medicare contractors and less with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Regional Offices under new instructions.

“CMS is ‘transitioning’ certain administrative functions involving certified provider/supplier enrollment transactions from the CMS Survey & Operations Group (SOG) Locations” — i.e., the ROs — “to the Medicare Administrative Contractors … and CMS’ Provider Enrollment & Oversight Group,” CMS says in CR 1247. Those functions include HHA initial enrollment applications, changes of ownership, and changes of information, according to the transmittal at www.cms.gov/ files/document/r11432pi.pdf.
