You should have a better idea of just what your Medicare Contractor is reviewing your claims for when a new transmittal takes effect.

Change Request 8690 will put into effect a new requirement “that Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) post review issues to their Web sites,” says the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in the CR. “It also requires that the Supplemental Medical Review Contractor (SMRC) maintain a public Web site that displays what types of issues are under review.”

CMS already requires Recovery Audit Con-tractors to post approved review issues on their websites. The mandate takes effect Sept. 5, according to the July 3 CR.
