MAC Updates Targeted Probe & Educate Review Topics

Not sure where to focus when it comes to avoiding claims denials? One MAC’s newly revised TPE topics list may give you an idea. As of July 18, HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor National Government Services lists these home health TPE topics: Medical Necessity for ICD-10 Z47-Z47.89 (indicating orthopedic aftercare); HIPPS; Increased Reimbursement; and Length of Stay. For hospice, NGS lists Q Codes; Length of Stay Greater Than 180 Days; and General Inpatient Greater Than 7 Days.
