MAC Issues ADRs To Review Choice Demo Agencies By Accident

Plus: Time to make your RCD review choice in Illinois.

For once, you can ignore those ADRs in your queue if you fall under a certain set of circumstances.

The problem: Under the Review Choice Demonstration, Texas and Illinois Choice 4 and 5 Providers may have received improper Additional Documentation Requests, HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor Palmetto GBA says on its website.

Under RCD, “Choice 4 (Selective Postpayment) and 5 (Spot Check) providers do not receive Additional Documentation Requests (ADR) during the transition period between cycles,” Palmetto explains. “However, Palmetto GBA has discovered that some providers in TX and IL received ADRs for Choice 4 and 5 outside of the cycle period that ended on 5/31/2023.”

The solution: “If you are a choice 4 or 5 provider who received ADRs on or after 6/1/2023 in the states of IL and TX please disregard,” Palmetto instructs. “These claims are being released to process as billed and will not require a response to the request for medical records,” the MAC says.

Meanwhile, in Illinois, “the time for [RCD] Cycle 7 is approaching,” the MAC says in a separate post.

HHAs must make their review option choices by July 16, or Palmetto will automatically slot them into either Choice 2 (100 percent postpayment review) or Choice 4 (selective postpayment review), the MAC says.
