MAC Gets Ready To Recoup FISS Glitch Overpayments

If you received an overpayment related to sequestration, it’ll soon be time to pay it back. A claims processing issue within the Fiscal Intermediary Shared System affected claims submitted from April 1 2013 to Jan. 3, 2014 that contained an MSP value code along with value code 17 for sequestration, HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor CGS explains in an email to providers. The glitch resulted in overpayments being issued to providers.
“CGS recently issued demand letters to recoup the outstanding overpayments,” the MAC says. “Please refer to the claim information listed in the demand letter to rectify any offsets within your agency.”
