Home health agencies in Review Choice Demonstration states may be eager to submit their pre-claim review requests as soon as possible, but they shouldn’t put the cart before the horse. “To help ensure a more streamlined document review process, providers are highly encouraged to submit the Request for Anticipated Payment (RAP)/Notice of Admission (NOA) and allow it to process before submitting the pre-claim review request,” RCD contractor Palmetto GBA says in a recent post on its website. “This will allow the beneficiary record to open on the Common Working File and will ensure you have all of the required documentation to submit with the request,” the HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor advises. Allowing NOAs to process may be the trickiest part right now, in light of multiple claims system glitches, experts say (see related story, p. 35).
