Kickbacks For HH Certifications Leads To Stiff 25-Year Prison Sentence

A physician clinic owner has received a stiff 25-year prison sentence for her part in a home care fraud scheme.

A Houston jury returned guilty verdicts against Brenda Rodriguez in January 2019 following a three-day trial over her role as owner and operator of QC Medical Clinic in Richmond, the Department of Justice says in a release. Rodriguez paid doctors to approve patients for home health care regardless of whether it was medically necessary, then sold those approvals to “various corrupt home health care providers,” according to the DOJ.

The scheme resulted in $11 million in Medicare fraud, Justice says.
