Industry Notes:

Keep Tabs On Growing List Of Claims Glitches

The laundry list of claims payment glitches continues to grow.

Case in point: "Claims that span from 2009-2010 are editing incorrectly for timeliness with reason code 39011," HHH MAC Palmetto GBA reports on its website. That applies to HHH claims with bill type 11X.

You'll have to wait until March 7 for a fix for this problem, Palmetto says. "Currently no provider action is necessary."

The solution will come a little quicker for reason code 17801 problems, reports National Government Services, the subcontractor for HHH MAC NHIC. Under that error, home heath/hospice claims are being returned to the provider (RTP) and suspending in error with reason code 17801 because the diagnosis codes are moving over one bit, NGS explains in an e-mail to providers.

The problem was thought to be solved on Jan. 20, but it is still present. A new fix is scheduled for Feb. 7, NGS informs providers.

And: Hospice claims are editing incorrectly for reason code 31503, Palmetto says. "For type of bill 81X and 82X, the sum of the total units for revenue codes 651, 652, 655 and 656 exceeds the number of billing period days," the HHH MAC explains.
