Two new hospice facilities are opening on opposite sides of the nation. In Virginia: The Dozoretz Hospice House of Hampton Roads plans to open in Virginia Beach in early 2024, it says on social media. The 12-bed facility is a partnership between Westminster-Canterbury and Beth Sholom Village, with the city of Virginia Beach donating the land. In Arizona: Retired hospice nurse Bonnie Irr is launching The Hansen House, a nonprofit that aims to furnish a “comfort care home” for terminally ill patients served by area hospices. The three-bedroom house will provide a place for patients who can’t be maintained at home, according to its website. It will collect donations and charge fees on a sliding scale, reports KYMA.
